Pam and I worked together in Shell mainly during the 90s and we remained life long friends.
We both experienced the ups and downs of having our children whilst juggling the demands of work and the constant concerns over childcare. We finally ended up working together in HR and it was fun. Pam was the consummate professional, always kind, fair and sensitive to the needs of others.
She was also incredibly well organised and I learnt a lot from her. We were in a small team full of characters and I always remember when Pam, a fellow colleague Em and myself were first introduced to the very modern technology of having a ‘teleconference’ which appeared as a round speaker in the middle of the table - we tried to be so serious but couldn’t stop laughing as we shouted at it and kept introducing ourselves every time we spoke.
Our friendship continued well beyond work. Pam was very pragmatic, funny, selfless, full of good sound advice and also incredibly brave.
She adored Andy and the boys and you knew they were her world. She will be greatly missed.
I feel very grateful to have had her as a friend.
