I first met Pammy at Congleton County Grammar School for Girls. Conveniently she lived next door to the school and so I frequently escaped and went home with her for lunch. Many a happy sleepover was spent in her room, after an exhausting evening dancing around our handbags at Congleton Town Hall disco.
Pammy left school after fifth form but was brilliant at keeping in touch from Florida and Brussels. Nick and I went to stay with her in Brussels. Much drinking and eating out, but I remember she cooked us a shepherd’s pie- a taste of home. She later sent us a Belgian lace handkerchief when we got engaged.
Pammy was the most beautiful bridesmaid at our wedding in her blue dress. We enjoyed visiting her in her lovely house in Farmhouse Mews, where she was obviously falling for the boy next door (nearly) Andy was perfect for her and she was so happy when Nathan and Adam came along.
A hard worker, Pammy used to go into the office on Saturday mornings to study for her HR exams, when the boys were young and she had worked all week. She loved working with people and I have no doubt was brilliant at it.
Happy holidays in France when Andy would put us through our daily sit-ups, which we couldn’t do for laughing! I know where I was when Princess Diana died, as Pammy was staying with us and all the children complained there were no cartoons that Sunday morning due to the coverage!
In recent times I have spent several happy lunches with Pammy in Chester, catching up and hearing about the exciting move down south.
Pammy was always positive, kind, considerate and thoughtful. She loved us and we loved her. We should have said it more.
